英语中具体数字、百分数和分数的增减，不象倍数增减那样复杂。一般有以下几种情况：
(一)表示增减的动词+to+百分数
百分数+ (Of ) +名词（或代词）
这两个句型表示增减后的结果，包括底数在内。翻译时可直接译出，或按倍数译法处理。例如：
1. This year the factory has produced 340 per cent the number of motors in 1977.
这家工厂今年生产的电动机是1977年的340% （3- 4倍）。或：这家工厂今年生产的电动机比1977年增了
2. 4 倍。
2. Using the new process, the loss of metal can reduced to 20 per cent.
如果采用这种新工艺，可使金属损耗下降到20%。
3. If the clearances in the journal bearings exceed 30% the average, it is necessary to change them.
如果轴颈轴承的间隙超过平均值的30%，就必须更换。
4. In 1933，industrial output in the USA fell to 65 per cent of the output in 1929.
1933年，美国的工业产值降至1929年的65%。
(二）as +形容词十as十数字
这一句型一般可译为“……达(数字）”。例如：
5. By the year of 2,000 there will be as many as 7,000,000,000 people on the surface of the earth.
到2000年，地球上的人口将多达70亿。
6. When the sun goes down, the temperature on the moon may be as low as -160℃.
太阳落下之后，月球上的温度可低达零下160摄氏度。
(三）在其它句型中，数字、百分数和分数，无论增减，一般均表示净增减部分，可以照译。试看以下各例。
