英语状语从句的顺序译法

7. The faster the gasrushes out, the faster the rocket moves.
气体喷出速度越快，火箭的运行速度也就越快。（比较状语从句）
8. In order that an electric current may flow in a circuit the latter must be complete and must consist of materials which are electrical conductors.
要使电流流过线路，线路就必须完整且由导体组成。(目的状语从句）
英语的比较状语从句、目的状语从句和结果状语从句大多位于主句之后，这时仍可按原文顺序译出，因为汉语相应的表达方式也是这样。例如：
9. The strength of this metal is such that it can withstand heavy loads under high temperature.
这种金属的强度极高，在高温下也能承受重荷。(结果状语从句）
10. Warm air can hold more water vapour than cool air.
热空气可以比冷空气含有更多的水蒸汽。（比较状语从句）
11. Will you unbutton your shirt so that I can examine your chest?
请解开衬衣扣子，让我检查你的胸部好吗？（目的状语从句）
