至于从属连词that，它在引导名词性从句时，本身无任何词汇意义，又不作任何句子成分，只起连接作用。汉语中没有相应的表达形式，因此翻译时应一概减去不译，由于that的译法下文还要述及，所以这里略举几例。
12. Evidence is presented to show that the manufacturing process of black powder can affect the ballistic performance.
有证据表明，黑火药的制造工艺可能影响弹道性能。 (that引导宾语从句，减译）
应当指出，虽然英语的从属连词在某些情况下可以减译，但照译为汉语对应连词的情况也是很多见的（尤其是引导状语从句的连词），只是在照译时要注意汉语连词的前后呼应关系。
