另外，用在固定词组和固定搭配中的冠词一般都应减去不译。例如；

in the end 最后，终于
make the grade 达到标准，合乎要求
hit the mark 中的，达到目的
应当指出，冠词并非在任何情况下都要减译。当不定冠词具有明显的数字概念、或与单数可数名词连用，表示单位数量时，一般必须译出；而定冠词在起着特指某具体亊物的作用时（此时其意义相当于this, that)，通常也必须译出。例如:
9. Many millions of the fragments from a shooting star enter our atmosphere in the course of a day.
一天之内有数以百万计的流星碎片进入地球大气层。(第二个不定冠词a译为“一”)
10. AIDS, Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome, is a fatal disease which leaves the body unable to ward off infection.
文滋病（即获得性免疫缺陷综合症）是一种致命的、可使人体丧失免疫能力的疾病。（不定冠词a译为“一种”）
11. ln war time, pigeons have been known to fly as fast as 75 miles an hour and to cover distances of 500 to 600 miles.
据说，在战争时期，信鸽的飞行速度髙达每小时75英里，航程达500到600英里。（不定冠词an译为“每”）
