科技英语中定语的译法

* The gas to be studied is admitted to the tube at a known temperature and at atmospheric pressure.
被研究的气体在已知温度和大气压力下充入管中。（不定式短语作后置定语）
* The energy not consumed in the system will be stored up in the form of potential energy.
系统未消耗的能量将以势能的形式储存起来。（分词短语作后置定语）
3. 转译为主语
在therebe句型中，如果主语后面有介词of引出的定语，汉译时常常把of引出的定语译成汉语的主语。如：
* There are many sizes of computers.
计算机有很多尺寸。
* There are two kinds of video capture devices, analog and digital wares.
视频采集设备有两种：模拟采集设备和数字采集设备。
* There are three states of matter: solid, liquid and gas.
物质有三态：固态、液态和气态。
4. 转译为谓语
(1) 当形容词作定语，且句子的谓语是have等时，为了使译文更加明确、通顺， 汉译时常常把定语译成汉语句子的谓语。如：
* Aluminum alloy has low specific electrical resistance and high thermal conductivity.
铝合金的电阻很低，而导热性很高。
