* Conducting current as well as many metals do, polyacetylene is unfortunately no good for practical use.

(5) 分词作结果状语的译法
分词作状语表示结果，在意义上相当于结果状语从句，分词（多为现在分词）作结果状语往往位于句末，且用逗号与主句分开。这种句型的特点是：分词的逻辑主语不是句子的主语，而是其前面的整个句子。汉译时，可增译“从而”、“因而”、“使”、 “便”等。如：
* A narrower spacing lessens the resistance to the passage of the current, increasing the power output.
小间隔减小电解液的电阻，从而増大了动カ输出。
* A liquid is made to circulate through pipes in the refrigerator, picking up heat from the food.
可以使某种液体在冰箱的管子中环流，从而带走食物中的热量。
(6) 分词作方式状语或表示伴随情况的译法
分词作状语表示方式或伴随，汉译时可以按照分词短语表达的意思直译出来即可。如：
