这是民心交融相通的8年。目前，在密州高校求学的中国留学生超过11000人，学习汉语的美国学生也越来越多，他们将成为沟通中美青年一代的重要桥梁。广东省友好代表团和艺术团已连续两年来密州访演，为密州人民带来广东人民的热情问候和祝福。去年，底特律交响乐团赴5个中国城市巡演，中美“乒乓外交”45周年纪念活动在密歇根大学隆重举行，续写中美人民友谊新篇章。
中国省市与密州交流合作的蓬勃发展是中美两国相互依存、共同发展的生动写照。在经济全球化继续深入发展、产业升级酝酿新突破的今天，中美作为前两大经济体，拥有广泛共同利益，对维护世界和平、稳定、繁荣肩负共同责任。面对复杂多变的国际形势和日益增多的各种挑战，单边主义和保护主义不是解决问题之道，合作是双方唯一正确选择。我们期待美方与中方相向而行，加强对话磋商，妥善管控分歧，共同致力于维护中美关系行稳致远。
This is eight years of connection between people's hearts. Currently, over 11,000 Chinese students are studying in Michigan and an increasing number of American students are learning Chinese. They will build the bridge between younger generations of Chinese and Americans. Guangdong Friendship Working Group and Provincial Art Troupe have visited Detroit two years in a row and brought the best wishes of the people of Guangdong to the people of Michigan. Last year, Detroit Symphony Orchestra visited and performed in five Chinese cities and a grand celebration of the 45th anniversary of the Ping-Pong Diplomacy was held at University of Michigan, adding new chapters to the long-lasting friendship between our two peoples
The vigorous development of exchanges and cooperation between Chinese provinces and cities and Michigan is a vivid portrayal of the interdependence and common development of China and the U.S.. With the continuous development of economic globalization and the brewing of new breakthroughs in industrial upgrading, China and the U.S., as the world's biggest economies, have extensive common interests and shoulder joint responsibilities for maintaining world peace, stability, and prosperity. Faced with the complex and ever-changing international situations and a variety of challenges, unilateralism and protectionism are not the solution to the problem, cooperation is our only right choice. We sincerely hope that the U.S. and China could meet each other halfway by strengthening dialogues and consultations and properly managing differences to ensure stable and long-lasting China-U.S. relations.
今年是中国改革开放40周年。40年来，中国坚定不移深化改革、扩大开放，经济社会建设取得举世瞩目的历史性成就。上月，习近平主席在博鳌亚洲论坛2018年年会开幕式上发表主旨演讲时强调，中国开放的大门不会关闭，只会越开越大！展望未来，中国将采取大幅度放宽市场准入、创造更有吸引力的投资环境、加强知识产权保护、主动扩大进口等一系列重大开放举措。这些措施不但将惠及中国企业和人民，也将为包括美国在内的世界各国带来更多发展机遇。我期待中国省市代表团充分利用此次“中国周”提供的平台，建立联系、对接业务、交流经验、分享机遇，进一步拓展中国与密州各领域交流合作，为中美地方合作打造更多新亮点。
最后，预祝密歇根州“中国周”活动取得圆满成功。
The year 2018 marks the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening-up. Over the last 40 years, China has been committed to deepening reform and further opening up and achieved phenomenal social and economic growth. Last month, in his keynote speech at the Opening of the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference, President Xi Jinping emphasized that China's door of opening-up will not be closed and will only open even wider. Looking ahead, China will adopt a series of major measures to pursue further opening including significantly broadening market access, creating a more attractive investment environment, strengthening protection of intellectual property rights and taking the initiative to expand imports. These measures will not only deliver benefits to all enterprises and people in China but also bring development opportunities for the U.S. and other countries in the world. I hope that the delegations from China can make full use of the platform provided by Michigan China Week and build relationship, match-make business, exchange experience and share opportunities with Michigan partners to further expand exchanges and cooperation between China and Michigan and jointly add more highlights to China-U.S. sub-national cooperation.
