举办密歇根州“中国周”是斯奈德州长去年提出的重要设想。“中国周”立足中国与密州近年来友好合作迅速深化的大背景，旨在进一步丰富双方伙伴关系内涵，加强先进制造、互联汽车、食品加工、医疗器械、物联网等领域务实合作，对探索中美省州合作新领域、新模式、新渠道具有重要积极意义。我相信，作为中国与美国中西部地区关系发展中的一大盛事，“中国周”必将推动双方各领域交流合作迈上新台阶，为新时代中美关系保持健康稳定发展发挥重要作用。
斯奈德州长上任以来的8年，是中国与密州友好关系迅速发展的“闪光8年”。这是真诚对话沟通的8年。斯奈德州长7次访华，每次都要到访多个省市，堪称密州“头号推销员”。今年下半年，斯奈德州长还将第8次访华，我在此预祝州长先生访问成功。近年来，时任广东省委胡春华书记、时任广东省委马兴瑞副书记、四川王宁副省长等中国省市领导也先后率团到访密州，为省州关系发展提供高层引领。
Michigan China Week is an important proposal made by Governor Snyder last year. Given the rapidly deepening cooperation between China and Michigan, Michigan China Week aims at further enrichment of this partnership by promoting pragmatic cooperation in such areas as advance manufacture, connected cars, food processing and Internet of Things, which is of great significance in exploring new areas, new models and new channels of cooperation between Chinese provinces and U.S. states. I believe that as a major event in the relations between China and the U.S. Midwest, Michigan China Week will surely bring our exchanges and cooperation in various fields to a new level and play an important role in maintaining a sound and stable development of China-U.S. relations in the new era.
The eight years since Governor Snyder's assumption of office have been the "shining eight years" of the rapid development of friendly relations between China and Michigan. This is eight years of sincere dialogue and communication. Governor Snyder visited China seven times and included several provinces and cities in each and every trip. He is no doubt the "top salesman" of Michigan. Later this year, Governor Snyder will visit China for the 8th time. I hereby wish the visit a great success. The recent years also witnessed visits to Michigan by then Politburo Member and CPC Secretary of Guangdong Province Mr. Hu Chunhua, then CPC Deputy Secretary of Guangdong Province Mr. Ma Xingrui, Vice Governor of Sichuan Mr. Wang Ning and leaders of other Chinese provinces and cities, which have provided high-level guidance for continuously expanding cooperation between the two sides.
这是省州关系迈进的8年。在双方共同努力下，中国省市与密州关系持续深入发展，双方合作机制框架日益完善。2015年，中国商务部会同浙江、湖北、广东、重庆、四川等5省市与密州签署《贸易投资联合工作组谅解备忘录》，为双方经贸合作搭建新平台。2016年，广东与密州建立友好省州关系，四川省政府与密州政府签署《进一步加强友好省州关系备忘录》，为中美地方合作注入强劲动力。
这是互利共赢合作的8年。中国已成为密州第三大贸易伙伴和出口市场，双方年贸易额超过130亿美元。通用、福特、克莱斯勒等密州企业在中国市场业绩喜人，通用公司在华年销量已突破400万辆。2010年至今，中国企业在密州累计投资40亿美元，创造就业岗位超过1万个。未来，中国企业投资还将继续增长，为双方民众带来更多实惠。
This is eight years of progress in the province/state relations. With joint efforts of both sides, the relations between the provinces and cities in China and Michigan continue to deepen, and the framework of bilateral cooperation mechanisms has been increasingly perfected. In 2015, Ministry of Commerce of China, joined by four Chinese provinces, namely Zhejiang, Hubei, Guangdong, Sichuan, and the City of Chongqing, signed a MOU with Michigan for a joint working group on trade and investment, setting a new platform for economic and trade cooperation. In 2016, Guangdong and Michigan established sister province/state relations while Sichuan and Michigan agreed to further strengthen their sister province/state relations established over 30 years ago, which injected a strong impetus for sub-national cooperation between China and the U.S..
This is eight years of mutually-beneficial and win-win cooperation. China has become Michigan's third largest trade partner and export market, with annual trade volume surpassing US$13 billion. Michigan companies such as General Motors, Ford and Chrysler enjoy booming business in the Chinese market. General Motors' annual sale in China went beyond 4 million cars last year. Since 2010, Chinese companies have invested US$4 billion in Michigan, creating over 10,000 jobs. In the future, there will be more Chinese investment in Michigan, bringing more benefits to both Chinese and American people.
