第二，要注意语气的表达。
在外交口译中要准确地传达源语的意思，对语气的理解和表达也非常重要。语气译得准确才能真正准确地表达出分寸感。例如，谈到“两个同家在一些问题上的分歧，完全可以通过平等协商的方式予以解决”时，如何理解“完全可以”? 对语气的把握不同，译出的意思就会不同。如果是陈述“两国之间的分歧可以解决”，就可译为：Disagreements between the two countries on certain issues can be addressed through consultation on an equal footing. 但是，如果讲话者的意思是“两国之间的分歧原本可以解决，但由于种种原因而未能解决”，就可译为：As for the differences on certain issues, they should have been solved by the two countries through consultations on an equal footing.
