以上“请”字的许多译例可以说明几个问题：一是“请”字在不同的上下文中，其意思有细微区别，如要求的程度强弱，表达方式的直接与间接，措辞或句式的正式与否，翻译前须悉心领会；二是“请”字的适应范围很大，英译汉时，许多客套话，不必照字面直译，可考虑能否译成汉语的“请”字；三是“请”字的英译，不必千篇一律。
