也许正是由英美法律工作者故弄玄虚的妙法之一就是舍简就繁的缘故吧-——汉语法律之英译往往表现为有失简洁。这种实例屡见不鲜，如：
1. 原文：各级劳动部门（负责对本规定的执行进行检査）
原译：Labour management department at all levels /....../
原文：各级卫生部门（……对本规定的执行进行监督。）
原评：Public health departments...at all levels /......
上列两例原译中的“at all level”既没有提供什么信息，略去不用更不致有损原意。因此，除特殊上下文有特殊要求时又当别论（如各级分类不同、权限不同而影响上下文者） 者外，千万要节省笔墨，把这种言之无物的“at all levels”坚决割爱一一 一笔钩销！
如能在介词之选用或节约上下功夫，也能收到简洁明了之效，请看下列译文除其他舍简就繁外，这“according to”和一再出现的“concerning”实在要不得：
3. 原文：女职工违反国家有关计划生育规定的，其劳动保护应当按照国家有关计划生育规定办理，不适
用本规定。
原译：Labour protection of those women staff and workers that run counter to state stipulations concerning family planning should be treated according to State stipulations concerning family planning. The Regulations are thus inapplicable.
如此累赘的译文中，要把：“concerning”就词论词简化一番很方便一一把它改为“on”就得了。但是如对上列原译进行综合治理，则在全文精简节约之同时，according to与concerning等赘疣也就迎刃而摘除了。请看：
拟译：These Regulations do not apply to any violation of state family—planning measures by a woman employee whose labor protection is regulated by the said measures.
其实，大多数求简之道，都不是就同论词就能成其事的。即使下列不长的繁句也得综合治理才能简化，请看：
4. 原文：为……保护其健康以利于社会主义现代化建设，..….
原译：In order to...protect their health so as to be advantageous to socialist modern construction....
拟译：In order to protect their health in the interest of socialist modernization...
汉语“现代化建设”读起来很顺，译者往往就直觉地译作“modern construction”，在英语来看，有 了“ construction” 反而费解且易滋歧义。 如果不用“construction”并把“modern”改为“ modernization”倒是忠实于原文“社会主义现代化建设”的。这是不是可以说“有所不译才能有所译”呢？
5. 原文：私营企业对……的职工，必须...…向保险公司投保……
原译：Private enterprises…must insure for …staff and workers with the insurance company...
拟译：Private enterprises...must buy insurance for / their / ...employees....
瞧，法律规定是要私营企业向保险公司投保而原译用了“must insure”，岂不是要非保险公司的“私营企业”当“insurer”而去经营保险业务了吗？ 故这个 “insure”宜改用“buy insurance”，既然说 “buy insurance”——那么向谁买呢？当然是保险公司了！因此，“拟译”中虽无“insurance compary”其词而“insurance compary”其意已在其中了。可谓此时无译胜有译（反而累赘）也。
