国际结算方式是通过银行中介，以各种信用工具、支付凭证和各种衍生金融工具的传达来实现的。因此，在汉译时不可避免地会涉及许多与银行等金融部门有关的术语。请看下面两组例子，注意其中“forward”和“position”的解释。
（1）forward
例1 The goods will be forwarded to you within the 4th quarter of the year.
译文:货物将于第四季度发运给你方。
例2 Both current and forward gold showed large losses in the market by the end of the morning.
译文：早市结束时，现货与期货金价均大幅度下跌。
例1句中的“forward”意思如同“send”，翻译为“运送”。例2句中的“fonvard”，则是一个金融常用词，意为“远期的，将来的，期货的”。基于以上比较，我们不难理解下面例3句中的两个“ forward”的含义了。
例3 We are arranging to forward you 1 ,000 pens to replace the unsold mode. Please return the latter to us，freight forward.
译文:我们正安排发运1，000支钢笔以替换尚未售出的型号。请把后者退还给我们，运费到付。
（2）position
例4 We are in a position to meet your request.
译文:我们能满足贵方要求。
例5 We have no certain knowledge of their financial position.
译文:我们对他们的财务状况不甚了解。
例4句中的“be in a position to”是外贸业务中相当常用的一个套语，意为 “can”；例5句中“ position”则是金融术语，意为“头寸”或“财务状况”。
