2) Tenderers2 shall within the prescribed time pay a deposit3 (bearing no interest) to the specified office at a specified place and shall deposit duly sealed tenders into a specified tender box.

评析：我们可以从以上短短两种译文中轻而易举地归纳出几十种翻译技巧，限于篇幅，本文主要评析句法层面上的、多数翻译教材尚未介绍过的翻译技巧。
译例1(见以上标1所示部分）对比两种译文可发现,译文 1 中的 according to...相当于译文 2 中的 having taken into account...，只是两者位置不同，一个插入在句中，一个位于句末。 这种差別可能引起读者的思考：是否也可将插入的according，移至句末（状语的通常位置）？如真的移至句末，我们便会发现according to...的修饰关系会变得模糊不清。它除了可能修饰远处的shall issue,还可能修饰近处的invited,当然这不合原中文语义。随后我们又会思考，为什么译文2中的having taken into account...却可以置于句末呢？仔细观察，便会发现，having taken into account具有明显的动作意味，从而限定了其主语应是远处的 the Municipal Land Bureau，进而可与 shall issue 挂上钩。而 according to...则语义虚泛，可修饰的对象范围较广，因此容易产生歧义。为避免歧义，只好将其插人在被修饰的shdl issue之间。但假如shall issue之间的结构变得比较复杂(如shall within the prescribed time, issue, ... )*这时就不便再插入according to...结构，但又不便将其移至句末，那怎么解决这ー问题呢？可改用动作意味明显的having taken into account...，并将其置于句末，仍能与远 处的shall issue遥相呼应。
