5. 用“as +形容词/副词+ again + as”表示同一水平上的比较,again指净增加一倍,例如:
a. The number of our staff is as great again as that of yours.
我们的职工人数比你们多一倍。(是你们的两倍)
b. He can write as fast again as she does.
他书写的速度比她快一倍。(是她的两倍)
此外,还有其他表示增减的方式,最常用的是在所增长数字的前面或后面加up,或在前面加上a rise of, an increase of等; 在减少数字的前面或后面加上down,或在前面加上a fall of, a dip of, a drop of等。请看以下例子(译文略):
