译文中把合同期满译成“the expiration or termination”，意思更为完整，因为expiration指（合同）到期，而termination则是指 (合同）终止。另外译文还根据意思的需要增加了“in the People's Republic of China only ”这个短语，因为下一句是谈到向国外出口，增加这个短语形成对照，使意思表达得更清楚，用a third country 比用 other countries 更确切。
4. 合并
这里有两种情况，一是合并一个句子里的共同成分，二是把两个或两个以上的句子合并成ー个句子使之语义缜密，结构紧凑，而仍保持原文意义不变。
例9. 买卖双方同意按下列条款，出售下述商品，并签订本合同。
译文：This Contract is made by and between the Buyer and the Seller, whereby the Buyer agrees to buy and the Seller agrees to sell the undermentioned commodity according to the terms and conditions stipulated hereinafter.
by and between the Buyer and the Seller 原应为 by the Buyer and the Seller and between the Buyer and Seller，经合并其共同成分Buyer and Seller而得出的比较简化的形式。
例10. 货物在目的口岸卸毕60天内由中国进出口商品检验局进行复验。如发现品质或数量与合同不符时，买方可向卖方退货或提出索赔。
经分析，后一句为前一句的结果，据此可合并成ー个句子。
译文：In case the quality, quantity or weight of the goods be found not in conformity with those as stipulated in this contract , as a result of the reinspection by China Import &. Export Commodity Inspection Bureau within 60 days after the completion of its discharge at the port of destination, the Buyer shall be justified to return the goods to or Lodge a claim against the Seller.
综上所述，经济合同所使用的英语为正式庄严文体，用词准确，不允许有歧义；结构紧凑，思维缜密，逻辑性强，因此在译成英文时应以直译为主，尽量保持原文的文体待点，有时也有必要采用一些翻译技巧，如重复和扩充以避免歧义，确切表达原义；利用否定词的转换，使表达更顺畅;进行合并使句子结构紧凑，意思连贯从而在整体上提高译文的质量。
