心主[张琦说:“‘心主’当作‘厥阴’”]之阴，名曰害肩，上下同法。视其部中有浮络者，皆心主[当作“厥阴”]之络也。络盛则入客于经。
"The Yin-collaterals in the Jueyin Channel which reach and pass the part of skin is called 'Haijian' (harming the shoulder). The conditions of the Hand Jueyin channel and the Foot Jueyin channel are the same. The floating collaterals seen are all the collaterals of the Jueyin Channel. When the evil-energy in the collateral is overabundant, it will penetrate into its channel.
太阴之阴，名日关蛰，上下同法。视其部中有浮络者，皆太阴之络也，络盛则入客于经。凡十二经络(《太素》“经”下无“络”字]脉者，皮之部也。
"The Yin-collaterals in the Taiyin Channel which reach and pass the part of skin is called 'Guanzhe' (the sealed hibernant). The conditions of the Hand Taiyin Channel and the Foot Taiyin Channel are the same. The floating collaterals seen in the part of skin are all the floating collaterals of the Taiyin Channel. When the evil-energy in the collaterals is over-abundant, it will penetrate into its channel. In a word, all the twelve channels belong to various parts of skin respectively.
是故百病之始生也，必先于皮毛[吴注本“毛”作“也”，《太素》《甲乙》“先”下有“客”字]，邪中之则腠理开，开则入客于络脉，留而不去，传入于经，留而不去，传入于府，廪于[《类说》“入手”下无“府廪于”三字]肠胃。邪之始入于皮也，诉[《甲乙》“诉”作“淅”，“淅然”寒貌]然起毫毛，开腠理;其入于络也，则络脉盛色变;其入客于经也，则感虚乃陷下。其留于筋骨之间，寒多则筋挛骨痛;热多则筋弛骨消，肉烁胭破，毛直而败。
"So, all diseases start definitely from the part of skin first When the evil attacks the skin, the striae will be kept openned and the evil-energy will invade the collaterals, when the evil retains long, it will be transmited into the channel inside, when it retains in the channel long, it will be transmited into the intestine and stomach. When the evil invades the skin, One will shiver with cold with the fine hairs of the skin standing up and the striae openning. When the evil-energy invades the collaterals, the collaterals will be fully filled, and the colour of the patient's complexion will be changed. When the evil invades the channel, the patient will have the syndrome of bogging down and weak pulse and deficient breath. If the evil retains in between the tendon and bone, and when the cold-energy is overabundant, the patient will have spasm of the muscle and pain in the bone; when the heat-energy is over-abundant, the patient will have muscular flaccidity, and he will be weak in the bone, his muscle in the shoulder and elbows will be deteriorative and his skin and hair will become withered."
帝曰:夫子言皮之十二部，其生病皆何如?岐伯曰:皮者脉之部也，邪客于皮则腠理开，开则邪入客于络脉，络脉满则注于经脉，经脉满则入舍于府藏也，故皮者[《甲乙》“皮”下无“者”字]有分部，不与而生大病也。帝曰:善!
Yellow Emperor asked: "What are the conditions of the infections of the twelve parts of skin you said?" Qibo said: "The skin is the place where the collaterals spread, when the evil-energy invades the skin, the striae will be openned; when the striae are openned, the evil-energy will invade into the collaterals; when the collateral is fully filled with cvil-energy, it will be poured into the channel; when the channel is fully filled, it will go further and retain in the viscera. Thus, when the evil-energy invades the skin, if the treating is in time, the disease can be recovered soon, if the treatment is delayed, the evil-energy will penetrate into the viscera and cause serious disease.
