When the disease is in the tendon and the patient is seized with cramp, has pain in the jionts and unable to walk, it is called the tendinous bi-syndrome. When treating, it should prick the tendon as the tendon is in the juncture of the muscles. The pricking must reach the tendon in the juncture of the muscles, but the bone must not be hurt. When the sensation of hotness in the tendon is felt, it shows the disease has been cured and the pricking should be stopped.
病在肌肤，肌肤尽痛，名曰肌痹，伤于寒湿。刺大分、小分，多发针而深之，以热为故; 无伤筋骨，伤筋骨，痈[《甲乙》“痈”作“寒”]发若变;诸分尽热，病已止。
When the disease is in the skin and both the skin and muscle are painful, it is called the myalgia and it is caused by the invasion of the cold-wetness. When treating, it should prick the acupoints in the large and small junctures of the muscles. The pricking should be deep and in various locations until the hotness is felt. In pricking, it must not hurt the tendon and bone, if the tendon and bone are hurt, the cold-evil will attack and cause disease. When the hot feelingis felt in the large and small junctures of muscles after pricking, it shows the disease has been cured and the pricking should be stopped.
病在骨，骨重不可举，骨髓酸痛，寒气至[孙鼎宜说:“‘至’下疑有‘骨’字”]，名日骨痹，深者刺，无伤脉肉为故，其道[《太素》“其道”作“至其”]大分小分，骨热病已止。
When the disease is in the bone, the patient will feel heavy of the bone and can hardly move, if the marrow is sore and the bone is extremly cold, it is the bone bi-syndrome. In treating, the pricking should be deep, but the vessel and muscle must not be hurt. When the needle reaches the bone between the large and small junctures of muscles and the hot feeling of the bone is felt, the disease will soon be recovered, and the pricking should be stopped.
病在诸阳脉，且寒且热[按“且寒”四字，涉下误衍]，诸分且寒且热，名日狂。刺之虚脉，视分尽热，病已止。病初发，岁一发，不治，月一发，不治，月四五发，名曰癞病。刺诸分诸脉[《甲乙》作“其脉”，连下读]，其无寒者以针调[《甲乙》无“其”字，“无”作“尤”、“调”作“补”]之，病[金本，胡本，认本，赵本，吴本“病”下并有“已”字]止。
When the disease is in various Yang channels (Hand and Foot Taiyang, Shaoyang and Yangming channels) and there is hot and cold feelins now and then in the junctures of muscles, it is the disease of mania. When treating, it should apply the purging therapy to disperse the evil-energies of the Yang channels; when the hot feeling is felt in all the junctures of muscle, the disease will be recovered very soon, and the pricking should be stopped.
When mania is newly contracted, it will attack once a year, if the treating is delayed, it will attack once a month, if it is not treated again, it will attack four or five times in a month which is called epilepsy.
When treating, it should prick the large and small junctures of the muscle, If the channel is extremely cold frequently, the invigorating therapy should be applied. When the disease turns to the better, the pricking should be stopped.
病风且寒且热，灵汗出，一日数过[《甲乙》“过”作“欠”按“欠”疑是“次”之坏字]，先刺诸分理络脉;汗出且寒且热，三日一刺，百日而已。
When the disease of the patieat is caused by wind-evil, the syndrome of hot and cold at times will occur, the patient perspires when he is hot and the disease comes on several times a day. When treating, the junctures of muscle, skin and the collaterals should be prick first.
If the patient remains to perspire and feels hot and cold at times, he should be pricked in every other three days, and after treating for one hundred days, the disease will be cured.
病大风，骨节重，鬚眉堕，名日大风，刺肌肉为故，汗出百日，刺骨髓，汗出百日，凡二百日，鬚眉生而止针。
When one contracts leprosy, the patient will feel beavy in the joints all over his body, and his beards and eyebrows are falling, it is called the disease of leprosy. When treating, it should prick the muscle to cause sweating, and after the one-hundred-day-pricking, prick again the bone morrow for another one hundred days to cause sweating. The whole process should last for two hundred days before ceasing the pricking.
