奇病论篇/Qi Bing Lun
(On Extraordinary Diseases)
黄帝问日:人有重身，九月而疳，此为何也?岐伯对日:胞之络[“之络”二字误倒，应据《太平御览》乙正]脉绝也。帝日:何以言之?岐伯日:胞络者系于肾，少阴[《太平御览》引“阴”下，无“之”字]之脉，贯肾[按《灵枢经脉篇》“贯”作“属”]系舌本，故不能言。帝日:治之奈何?岐伯日:无治也，当十月复。《刺法》日:无损不足，益有余，以成其疹[《甲乙》“疹”作“辜]。然后调之[《太素》，《甲乙》并无“然后”四字]，所谓无损不足者，身贏瘦，无用锪石也;无益其[“其”字衍]有余者，腹中有形而泄[孙鼎宜说:“‘泄’当作‘补””，下同]之，泄之则精出而病独擅中，故日疹成[《甲乙》“疹成”作“成辜”]也。
Yellow Emperor asked: " In the ninth months of a woman’s pregnancy, there is no vioce when she speaks, what is the reason?" Qibo answered:"it is because of the collaterals in her uterus are obstructed."
Yellow Emperor asked:"Why is it so?" Qibo said:"The collaterals of the uterus are connecting the kidney, and the Kidney Channel of Shaoyin belongs to the kidney and the root of tongue, so, when the collaterals of the uterus are obstructed, she will speak without voice."
Yellow Emperor asked:"How to treat it?" Qibo said:"it is not necessary to treat at all, when the pregnancy is completed after ten months, it will be recovered naturally.
"It was stated in the 《Acupuncture》 of ancient times; 'one must not injure when there is an insufficiency, nor invigorate when there is a surplus so that it may not cause the evil-energy to become a solid tumor'.
"The so-called not to injure when there is an insufficiency means when the patient is thin, it must not treat with the stone needle. The so-called not to invigorate when there is a surplus means, although after invigoration, the spirit of the patient may turn to the better , but something solid like abdominal mass may occur. "
帝曰:病胁下满气逆[《甲乙》“气逆”下并有“行”字，按“行”字应属下读，《国语晋语》书注:“‘行’，历也”]，二三岁不已，是为何病?岐伯曰:病名日息积(《甲乙》“积”作“贲”]，此不妨于食，不可灸刺，积为导引服药[《圣济经》无“服药”二字]，药不能独治也。
Yellow Emperor asked: "Some people has fullness and distention over the hypochondrium and adverseness of the vital energy lasting for two or three years, and what is the disease?" Qibo siad: "It is called lump located at right hypochondrium, the patient can eat and drink as usual without doing him any harm. When treating, it must not apply moxibustion and acupuncture, but should dredge the energy and blood with a long-term physical exercise, and the disease can not be cured solely by medicine."
帝曰:人有身体髀股骺皆肿，环齐而痛，是为何病?岐伯曰:病名曰伏梁。此风根也，其气溢于大肠，而著于育，育之原在齐下，故环齐而痛也。不可动之，动之为水溺樯之病也。
Yellow Emperor asked:"Some people is swelling in his hips, thighs and legs and has pain around his navel, what is the disease?" Qibo said:" It is called fuliang (ancient name for the disease with epigastric fullness and mass) which is mainly caused by the wind-evil. As the evil-energy is spreading all over the outside of the large intestine and retains in the adipose membrane, and the source of the adipose membrane is under the navel, so there is pain around the navel. To this kind of disease, it should not apply medicine for purgating, if the purgation therapy is applied, dysuria will occur."
帝日:人有尺脉数甚[《甲乙》“脉数”作“肤缓”]，筋急而见，此为何病:岐伯日:此所谓疹[《甲乙》“疹”作“狐”]筋，是人腹必急[《太素・疹筋》“是”下无“人”字]，白色黑色见，则病甚。
Yellow Emperor asked:"Somebody whose Chi pulse (the proximal throbbing of the radial pulse) pulsates slowly, what is the disease?" Qibo said: "It is called hujin (abdominal pain and convulsion of extremities). When it is contracted, abdominal pain will occur. If there is white or black colour occur on the skin, the disease will be more serious."
帝日:人有病头痛以数岁[《甲乙》“痛”下无“以”字]不已，此安得之?名为何病? 岐伯日:当有所犯大寒，内至骨髓，髓者[《甲乙》“髓”上有“骨”字]以脑为主，脑逆故令头痛[《太素》“令”下有“人”字]，齿亦痛[《太素》“亦”下有“当”字]，病名曰厥逆[《针灸资生经》卷六《头痛》引“厥逆”下有“头痛”二字]。帝日:善。
Yellow Emperor asked:" Somebody has headache lasting for many years, how is it contracted?" Qibo siad: “Some part of the body must have been invaded by the cold-evil. When the cold-evil invades the bone marrow, the brain will be invaded as the brain is a main part of the bone marrow, and the syndrome of headache and toothache will occur. The disease is called the head-ache due to attack of cold-evil." Yellow Emperor said:"Good."
