(The Diseases Due to the Inter-transference of Cold and Heat Evils Between Various Organs)
黄帝向日:五戴六府，寒热相移者何?岐伯日:肾移寒于肝[明抄本“肝”作“脾”]痈[《医垒元戎》引“痈”上有“发为”二字]肿少气。脾移寒于肝，痈肿筋挛。肝移寒于心，狂隔[《太素》“隔”作“鬲”]中。心移寒于肺，肺消[《甲乙》、《圣济总论》“肺消”上并有“为”字]，肺消者饮一溲二，死不怡。肺移寒于肾，为涌水，涌水者，按腹不坚[《甲乙》“按”下有“其”字，《太素》“不”作“下”]，水气客于大肠，疾行则[《甲乙》“则”作“肠”]鸣濯濯，如囊裹浆，水之病也[《太素》作“治主肺者”]。
Yellow Emperor asked:“What are the conditions of the inter-transference of cold and heat between the five solid organs and the six hollow organs?"
Qibo said:“When the cold of kidney is transfered into the spleen, the patient will be swelling and short of breath.
“When the cold of spleen is transfered into the liver, the patient will have the disease of carbuncle and the contraction of the tendons.
“When the cold of liver is transfered into the heart, the patient will have mania and the impediment of heart-energy.
“When the cold of heart is transfered into the lung, diabetes involving the lung will occur, the patient’s urine will be of two times with that of the water he drinks. It is a fatal disease which can by no means to be cured.
“When the cold of lung is transfered into the kidney, water will be retained in the large intestine and cause failure of lowering the abdomen when being pressed. As the water is invading the large intestine, one can hear the water moving inside when walks rapidly like water in a bag, and, to this diesese, it should mainly treat the lung.
脾移热于肝，则为惊衄。肝移热于心，则死。心移热于肺，传为鬲消。肺移热于肾，传为柔痤。肾移热于脾，传为虚，[张琦说:“‘虚’字衍”》]肠澼，死，不可治。胞移热于膀胱，则癃[四库本“癃”作“必”]溺血。膀胱移热于小肠，鬲肠[《伤寒论》引“肠”作“热”]不便，上为口麋[《太素》“糜”作“靡”]。小肠移热于大肠，为虑瘕[《太素》作“密疝”]，为沉。大肠移热于胃，善食而瘦入[按“入”字疑衍]，谓之食亦。胃移热于胆，亦日食亦。胆移热于脑，则辛頞[“頞”音扼“頞”又称“下极”位于左右侧内眦之中内]鼻渊，鼻渊者[《圣济总论》引无“鼻渊”以下九字]，浊涕下不止也，传为衄蔑瞑目，故得之气厥也[《太素》作“厥气”]。
“When the heat of spleen is transfered into the liver, the patient will be shocked with terror and has epistaxis.
“When the heat of liver is transfered into the heart, the patient will die.
“When the heat of heart is transfered into the lung, if being protracted and developed, it will become diabetes involving the upper warmer.
"When the heat of lung is transfered into the kidney, if being protracted and developed, it will become soft-type convulsive disease.
“When the heat of the kidney is transfered into the spleen, if being protracted and developed, it will become pi from intestine (bloody stool) which can hardly be healed.
“When the heat of uterus is transfered into the urinary bladder, the patient will have hematuria.
“When the heat of the bladder is transfered into the small intestine, stagnation of heat, retention of faeces and the up-going of heat will occur, and it will cause aphthosis.
“When the heat of the small intestine is transfered into the large intestine, if the stagnated heat is not dispersed, abdominal mass or hemorrhoid will occur.
“When the heat of the large intestine is transfered into the stomach, the patient will eat plenty but being emaciated, and the disease is called the polyphagia-emaciation syndrome.
"When the heat of the stomach is transfered into the gallbladder, it is also called the polyphagia-emaciation syndrome.
"When the heat of the gallbladder is transfered into the brain, one will feel pungent in the nose bridge and will have sinusitis, if being protracted and developed, epistaxis and blur vision of the eyes will occur, and they are caused by the reversing up of the gallbladder energy."
