2. 用于形容词或副词之后，引导让步状语从句，表示“尽管”、“虽然”，但常常倒装。例如：

（1）Young as he was,he had a good command of English.

他尽管还小，但他对英语却掌握得很好。

(2)Standing as it does at the top of the hill,the temple is well preserved.

尽管这座寺庙位于山顶，但仍然保护得很好。

(3)Talented as he is,he is not yet ready to turn professional. 

他虽然有天分，却没有把心用在专业上。

3.as 通常放于句首，表示原因，只是对主句的附带说明。

(1)As a man sows,so shall he reap. 

种瓜得瓜,种豆得豆。

(2)As she has been ill perhaps she'll need some help.

她由于生病可能需要一些帮助。

(3)As we are not his parents,it is very difficult for us to know what to do. 

因为我们不是他的父母，我们很难知道该怎么办。

4. 还可以引导条件状语从句，译为“只要”。

(1) As long as one is honest,one can get along at any nook. 

只要一个人是诚实的，他在任何角落都可以过得很好。

as和一些词组成的固定连接词还可以引导结果状语从句，如so that(结果),so much so that（如此……以至于），as much as（如此……以至于），so...that（如此……以至于）等，so that(为了，以便）还可以引导目的状语从句。

(2) He chose a wrong college to study,so that half of his lifetime was wasted.(结果状语从句）

他选错了大学，以至于浪费了他半生的时间。

(3) The government introduced a freeze so that inflation might be brought under control.（目的状语从句）

政府对物价进行冻结，以便可以控制通货膨胀。

(4) There is no man so friendless but what he can find a friend.

没有连一个朋友都交不到的人。

5. as作代词时的用法

as可以单独作关系代词，译为“这”、“这一点”等，或重复所指代的词语。它还可与the same，such,so连用，有时可译为“像……这样/那样”。

(1) As we expected, he performed the task with success. 

正如所预料的那样，他成功地完成了任务。

(2) We drove out of the town by the same road as we had entered by. 

我们进城和出城走的是同一条路。

(3) We have never doubted the sincerity of so good a man as you are. 

我们从未怀疑过像你这样一个好人的真诚。
