第一段第二句:“与万里长城齐名的古京杭大运河纵贯市区。”

翻译此句时要掌握两个要点，“齐名”在英语中的意思是“be equal in fame to”或“be well-known as”,作定语从句时可省去“which is”。“纵贯”通常译为“flow through”。例如，“黄浦江纵贯市区南北”可译为:“The Huangpu River flows through the downtown from north to south.”因此，全句可译为:

"The ancient Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal equal in fame to/well-known as the Great Wall, flows through the downtown.”

第一段最后一句:“泛舟河上,能领略水乡的民俗风情。”

此句中的“领略”在课文中译为“take in”，也可译为“to get some ideas of"。“水乡"在教程 Unit 16.2翻译课文中译为“regions of rivers and lakes”。因此,全句可译为:“A trip a along the river by boat will enable the travellers to take in/get some ideas of the customs and life style of people in the regions of rivers and lakes.”

第二段第一句:“距市区七公里的太湖梅梁景区是太湖风景之精华。”

此句译文的句子结构排序为“主语+定语从句+谓语+表语”。因此，全句可译为:“Meiliang Scenic Area, seven kilometres away from the downtown, is the best of Taihu scenic spots.”

第二段第二句:“碧波万顷,渔帆点点,湖光山色令人陶醉。”翻译此句时可借用教程中课文的译文。Unit 13.1的第二段为:“湖水泛者涟

漪,四周山林茂密,点缀着楼台亭阁。”课文译为:“With ripples on the water's surface and thickly-wooded hills dotted by exquisite pavilions on its four sides.”

翻译此句时可借用“湖水泛着涟漪”来取代“碧波万顷”,可用“点缀”来取代(渔帆)“点点”,可用“山林茂密”来取代“山色”。因此,全句可译为:“Ripples on the water’s surface are dotted by fishing boats against an enchanting background of thickly-wooded hills.”

接下来的一句:“其中的鼋头渚巨石状如鼋头”,可译为:“Among these scenic spots, the huge rock named Yuantouzhu resembles a turtle's head.”

最后一句:“远眺烟波浩渺的太湖,被诗人郭沫若誉为‘太湖佳绝处’。”

翻译此句时可借鉴课文。“远眺”可借用教程Unit 12.1中“举目远望,余山、金山、崇明岛隐隐可见”的译文:“the observation deck

commands an indistinct view of Mount Sheshan, Mount Jinshan and the Chongming Island in the far distance”。“远眺”就是“举目远望”,可借译为“to command a view of .. . in the far distance”,或译为“to command a distant view of ...”。“烟波浩渺”就是“浩瀚无垠”,在Unit 13.3.2“形容词的英译”中提到“浩瀚无垠”(大海)在英语中的意思是“boundless (sea)”。因此,全句可译为:“The rock commands a distant view of the boundless Taihu Lake.”或译为“The rock commands a view of the boundless Taihu Lake in the far distance."

后半句“被诗人郭沫若誉为‘太湖佳绝处’”的翻译可借鉴课文中，“宋代著名诗人苏东坡用‘淡妆浓抹总相宜’的诗句来赞誉西湖。”的译文:“The West Lake was compared by Su Dongpo, a celebrated poet of the Song Dynasty, to a beauty 'who is always charming in either light or heavy make-up.'”

采用课文的翻译方法，可将后半句译为:“It was compared by Guo Moruo, a celebrated Chinese poet to 'the best spot of the Taihu Lake’.”

通过以上分析可以知道汉译英考查的是考生对《高级翻译教程》词汇、语法和翻译技巧的把握能力。这种能力是考生英语水平的集中体现。由于教程的结构是一个主题一个单元，所以考生上课出勤率不仅要保持100%，而且对一些常用词组与句子要像背诵唐诗一样做到滚瓜烂熟。考生要注重平时积累,勤做练习，要熟悉历次全真试题及参考答案，要努力钻研翻译技巧，在考场上做到镇定自若，认真对待每一个句子，把握“信(准确)、达(通顺)，力求雅(此点不作要求)”的原则，如此争取汉译英成绩合格并非难事。
