汉语的两个修饰词是出于行文的需要时表达一种语气，而译文所用两个动词意义已很明显且语气强烈，再加修饰词会显语义重复，因而译文去掉未译。再看下例“积极推进”的译法：

We pressed forward with the reform of state-owned enterprises after making experiments in selected ones. We further developed the pattern of the public sector remaining dominant and diverse sectors of the economy developing side by side.
原文“积极”因译文动词press forward已含有“主动积极”之义而省去未译，避免了语义重复，同时，它在原文中也是出于汉语 行文对仗的需要而使用的，意在与后一个修饰词“进一步”形成对应之势；第二句中“进一步”原本可不译的，因其后的动词develop 已隐含此意，但考虑到此句译文后一部分太长，因而用further译出，非但不显累赘，反而顾全了原义。
